A Glass Wall System — a Walls Under project, as we call it — starts with a covered space you already own: a porch, a patio, or a deck with a roof over it. Instead of tearing everything down and starting over, we work with the structure that's already there and install our custom glass wall and window system underneath it. What you end up with is a comfortable, finished space that still feels connected to the outdoors.

A covered porch or patio is most of the way to a room already: it has the roof, the floor, and the structure holding it up. What ends the evening out there is rain, wind, pollen, and bugs — and all four are stopped by the walls that aren't there yet.

Choose a Glass Wall System if the space you're picturing already has a roof over it. If it doesn't — an open deck or patio — that's a deck or patio enclosure, and we build the roof as part of that job.

Three-season or four-season

Same ladder as the rest of our rooms: how much of the year you want the space for is the decision, and it is the one worth making before anything is ordered.

A three-season build is lighter — not insulated, not heated — and at its best from spring through fall
A four-season build is insulated and heated, comfortable straight through a New England winter
Three-season costs less than four-season, because it is the lighter build

Choose three-season if you'd rather not pay for January, and four-season if you're picturing the space in February. We'd rather tell you that at the consultation than sell you a season you won't use.

What is a Glass Wall System?

It's our custom glass wall and window system, installed underneath a roof you already have — a covered porch, patio, or deck. We call the project a Walls Under, because the structure stays and the walls go in beneath it. The result is a finished, comfortable space that still feels connected to the outdoors.

What's the difference between this and a deck or patio enclosure?

Whether the roof is already there. A Glass Wall System works with a space that's already covered, so we build the walls and leave the structure alone. A deck or patio enclosure starts with an open deck or patio, and the roof is part of what we build.

Can you do this under any covered porch or patio?

Usually, but we look before we promise. We start with a visit to see the roof, the posts, and the floor and check what the existing structure can carry. If something needs work first, we'll tell you honestly.

Is there more than one version?

Yes — the same tiers as our other rooms. A three-season build is lighter, not insulated or heated, and at its best from spring through fall; a four-season build is insulated and heated for all twelve months. We help you choose from how you picture using the space, not from a spec sheet.

Can I choose the windows and doors?

That's the point of designing it around your space. Window sizes, doors, transoms, finishes, and the layout are all configured to the existing home and structure, so the enclosure feels like it belongs there rather than like something bolted on.

Do I need a building permit?

Yes — enclosing a covered space counts as an addition in every town we serve. We draw it, file it, and walk it through your town's reviews as part of the job.

How much does a Glass Wall System cost?

Because it builds on the roof and structure you already own, it's usually a gentler way into a new room — and three-season costs less than four-season. The honest number depends on your space and which tier you choose, so we price your actual porch or patio at the free consultation, not a hypothetical one.
